At present, 21% of the German population is over 65 years old and it increase to 34% in 2060. In order to cope with the nation’s aging population scientifically, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) made a financial plan to support aging population research.
