At the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Dragon, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, at the invitation of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, is paying an official visit to the United States from Feb.13 to 17.
It is the first time for Xi Jinping to visit U.S. as a main Chinese leader, which starts this year's high-level interactions between China and the US.
40 years ago, with great strategic vision and political wisdom, Chinese great leaders Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai, together with former U.S. President Richard Nixon and Former U.S. State Secretary Dr. Henry Kissinger, broke the ice to kickstart the process of establishing China-U.S.diplomatic relations.
Since then, both Chinese and American leaders have made unrimitting efforts to strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two countries, and high-level exchanges have been increased from meeting each other once in several years in early days to meeting several times a year nowadays.
In the past 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao paid a state visit to the United States. Both sides reached a consensus on the building of the China-US cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.
As to bilateral relations as well as important international and regional issues, leaders of the two sides met several times to exchange views, coordinate stances, resolve divergences and to discuss solutions through dialogues, consultations and summits.
The frequent high-level interactions between China and the U.S. had been a beautiful landscape in the international arena.
No matter how unpredictable the international situation is, the relationship between China and the U.S. has kept proceeding forward.
