Background
As one of the key bilateral academic exchange events launched by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), China-Japan High-Level Dialogue for Scientists is co-sponsored by the CAST and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and has been successfully held three times since 2017.
Population ageing is a common social challenge currently facing both China and Japan, the fact of which points to the vast room for cooperation between the two countries in addressing population ageing with smart technology. In 2017, in an effort to promote the establishment of a high-level technology and cultural exchange mechanism between China and Japan, CAST and JST agreed to upgrade the former China-Japan Interdisciplinary Academic Salon for Young Scientists to China-Japan High-Level Dialogue for Scientists, with its permanent theme being "Addressing Population Ageing with Smart Technology".
The objectives of China-Japan High-Level Dialogue for Scientists are: to give full play to the intellectual, manpower and organizational advantages of CAST; to introduce international resources and explore the establishment of new models of joint innovation and research result transformation in the realm of smart elderly care; to invite esteemed Chinese and Japanese experts and business representatives to discuss topics about smart elderly care; to rev up the extensive cooperation between the two countries in addressing population ageing with smart technology; and to promote the deep integration of technology and economy through technology exchanges between China and Japan in related disciplines of smart elderly care, thereby ratcheting up the development of China's smart elderly care industry.
